Dissertation
Over the last three weeks I have been thinking about my dissertation and what I am going to write about. It’s been really tricky as the subject area that I can address is so vast and rich- the body, our relationship with our own body, our perspectives on the body, etc. I have however decided that as most of my work is made out of fascination and interest in the body, it might be interesting to examine why we are naturally curious and drawn to our own bodies. Why is there such a thing as morbid curiosity, why are we repulsed or fixated with bodily functions? I hope to address this and in doing so explore the varying relationships that we all have with our bodies and the bodies of others.
As an appendix I hope to include an interview with Eleanor Crook (sculptor, who is heavily involved with science, the body, and organizations such as the Wellcome Collection) when I go down to visit her for work experience on the 2nd August.
